How to Get a CT Real Estate License
In order to sit for the salesperson's license real estate exam, you must successfully complete a 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices Course that meets the minimum requirements as set forth by the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Real Estate Commission. These classes can be live, in-person, or virtual-live.

Purpose:
This application is for an individual who has taken a Connecticut approved pre-licensing 60-hour Real Estate Principles & Practices course.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Connecticut pre-license 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices course.
- Broker supervision is not required to take the examination.
Required Documentation:
- Completed application.
- 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices course completion certificate.
Examination Information:
You must be approved before you can register and schedule to take the examination. After the application is reviewed and approved, you will receive instructions on how to register and schedule the examination.
Please be aware of the following prior to submitting your application:
- You may take the examination on an unlimited basis for up to one year from the date of eligibility.
- You must pass both portions of the examination within one (1) year of eligibility.
- If you do not pass both portions within one year, you must reapply for an additional year of eligibility.
- After you pass both portions of the examination, within the one year of eligibility, you have 2 years from the date of the most recently passed portion to activate your license.
- To activate the license, you must be supervised by a CT licensed broker and pay the $590.00 license fee.
- All real estate salesperson licenses expire on May 31st of every even-numbered year.

- Application Fee: $80.00
- Examination Fee: $59.00. The examination fee will be due at the time you schedule the examination with PSI.
- All fees are non-refundable.
