A fully accredited, non-profit hospital with over 375 beds, the hospital serves all of the towns in and around the Northern Fairfield County Area, as well as towns in bordering New York state.

Hospital facilities and services include two linear accelerators for cancer therapy, ultrasound, computerized tomographic (CT) scanners, renal dialysis, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and cardiac catheterization, as well as new treatment options available through research protocols. In addition to comprehensive treatment and support programs for patients with cancer, heart disease, and psychological difficulties, the hospital offers extensive services for women, children, and senior citizens.

The medical staff consists of over 500 physicians and dentists. There are over 2000 full and part-time employees with the assistance of 600 active senior and junior volunteers. Danbury Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine, New York Medical College, and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.

Danbury Hospital also provides numerous educational opportunities, including Health Fairs, a Speakers' Bureau, monthly Medical Town Meetings, Programs for Parents, and a Consumer Health Information Center in local libraries.

A general, acute-care hospital with 85 beds, providing a modern expanded Ambulatory Care Center which includes Radiology, Laboratory, Emergency Room, Physical Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Respiratory Therapy. The Center also includes a new, up-to-date Surgical Suite, expanded and sophisticated ICU-CCU, Central Sterile Supply, and a Materials Management Center.

Elements in Progressive Patient Care are: Intensive Coronary Care Unit, Special Care Unit, General Medical-Surgical, Maternity, Pediatric, and Isolation. Other facilities include equipment for electro-cardiograms, stress testing, electro-encephalographs, radiology and nuclear medicine, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy.

The hospital continues to promote its extensive community role by providing a number of health promotion programs conducted by its staff which include the use of hospital facilities.

This facility was established to serve the needs of the handicapped and retarded, and offers rehabilitation assistance as well as sheltered workshops and training programs. It is located in a large facility off of Federal Road in Brookfield, with increased facilities for rehabilitation of physically handicapped and brain damaged persons.
