| Candlewood lake is the largest lake in the State of Connecticut, encompassing 5420 acres with over sixty miles of shoreline. It was created in 1926 when the Rocky River was dammed to produce hydro-electric power.
The five communities fronting on Candlewood's 60-mile shoreline have built and maintained town parks for their residents to enjoy sailing, water skiing, swimming and fishing. Additionally there are numerous marinas and private lake clubs offering recreational opportunities to residents.
The towns of Northern Fairfield County which border Candlweood Lake are, Danbury, Brookfield, New Milford, Sherman and New Fairfield. |
